Arik Levy: Well of life

paris-based designer arik levy has created 'well of life', a series of lighting objects in which he continues his experimentation
in working with ceramics, a material which he finds both magical and primitive.

it's the materials raw aspects, such as its endless shaping possibilities and the fact that one cannot predict what will come out of the kiln,
which has attracted levy to work with it. for this project, the israeli-born designer was in close dialog with a ceramic expert
who manufactured the 'well of life' pieces. the result is an interaction between the material's texture and color,
which becomes 'liquid' when set within the light.

each piece is finished with a mat dark gray exterior and a smooth, bold, colored enamel on the inside, creating a certain contrast.
when lit, a soft colored reflection drops on the walls, while the ceiling gets a white light.
